Orb of Eternity

This ever happen to you? You head out to photograph a specific location, and you have s specific “vision”, if you will, of how you want that shot to look once you’ve shot it, post-processed and posted it to the web (or printed it).  You know precisely which lens you want to use, you’ve already used done the research to find out the time of sunset, the direction from which the waning sunlight will come, and where you will set up.  Then nature hands you a challenge. Very average sky, almost no color in the sky, etc.  Yesterday was one of those days for me.  I SPECIFICALLY went out to shoot this orb, inspired by an HDR of an Orb shot in another part of the world, but posted the same day to the web.  I was gonna go out and get me a darn Orb, come heck or high water.

Long story short, I had planned to post a Vertorama (fancy term for vertical panorama), but I was NOT happy with the sky!  Mind you, the worst sunset is certainly better than shooting at high noon, I think.  Suffice to say, I decided posting a vertorama, which would have included a lot of blah sky, was not the way I wanted to treat you, my dear viewers.  Instead, I re-envisioned the scene, and blasted off the necessary brackets for a decent post today.  I hope this meets expectations.  If not…  Well… Call the manager!
