Won’t you please wait here, Sir…

I had originally planned to post this shot a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t.  Then, I planned to post it while at Photokina but, again, I didn’t.  No particular reason for the delay; the timing just did not feel right.  Well, tonight it seems right.  Why?  ‘Cause it’s a fisheye and I felt like dropping something from the cool lens on y’all and because I re-watched Resident Evil while in Cologne, and this room is in that movie.  If you have seen the movie, you may recognize this ceiling from the scene where Alice finds the weapons her dresser in the Master bedroom of the mansion above the hive (minute 10:29 of the movie).

By the way, I had my fisheye with me in Cologne (it’s so tiny there is no excuse not to take it along) and shot several hand-held high-ISO brackets in the cathedral, so I’m looking forward to seeing how those will come out.  Why do I like the fish so much?  Several reasons…  First, I love the wacky effect I can get with it.  Second, it’s a great lens to take when I want to go light but don’t want to drag the my drool inducing Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 along.  Last, but probably most importantly, it forces me think about my compositions (or framing if you prefer) in a completely different way.
