Now that’s more like it…

Here I am just two days before leaving Berlin, and I was feeling a bit lazy in choosing and processing a shot for today.  At first, I tried to foist a very average (if not below average) bit of tripe on you all, but luckily I tested it out on some pals on flickr first.  I’m happy to report that my friends, like the awesome HDR stud Dave Wilson (aka @dawilson on twitter), called my shot for what it was.  Now THAT’s the kind of friend I like!  Thanks, Dave, most sincerely.  So back to Lightroom it was to select something more palatable.  I chose this set of stairs I shot the other day at an abandoned Chemical Lab in former East Germany and quickly processed it while exchanging tweets with Dave about the shot I nearly subjected you all to see.  Thank’s for keeping me honest, Dave!  You da man!!

Nicely done, Jacques! Love the bits of rust on the left hand wall, and those stairs are just amazing. Fantastic comp, my friend.

Now that’s what I call a typical @fotofreq post. No need for tough love on this one, Jacques! BTW, no-one has ever used the phrase “awesome HDR stud” in the same sentence as my name before as far as I am aware. Thanks, I think 🙂

The angle and selective focus almost make you feel like you’re approaching the stairs! Awesome! As usual, great use of light and shadow Jacques! Good work Dave!

Love the lighting and “decay.” Kind of a funny photo, in a way. Is there any question where the “treppenaufgang” [staircase] is ?! I’m sure it must have been code.

great lighting and focus. the stairs and light lead the eye nicely – top work.

no compromising my man. nicely done with the color and light up the stairs against the wall in the foreground.

Yet again, you prove to be a leader in this field, Jacques. What an INCREDIBLE shot!

Excellent image Jacques! Wonderful tones and textures!

Yah, Dave’ll do that for you. Great shot! Now, off to Flickr to see if the other one is still up. I just can’t get enough of that fotofreq stuff!

Ok, yeah, this really incredible. You’re earlier shot got me thinking about what makes a good image. I still think you’re earlier image was not anything bad, but something was lacking. This image has it all. Great composition, great processing and most importantly emotional content. Bravo!

*Love* Dave’s comment above 😀

The colour in this shot just invites the viewer in and makes me want to climb the stairs ….. very nicely done.
