Tangerine Dream

I really love great architecture, and Berlin has plenty of it.   Take this walk way to the underground parking garage, with its glowing orange tile walls.  That reminds me; did you know that the group Tangerine Dream was formed in Berlin.  I just learned that recently, and thought I’d tie the three together in today post.  Makes sense to me, at least.

Singin’ the Blues in Berlin

Sadly, I’ll be leaving Berlin very soon, off to America’s west coast for awhile.  I shot this image of the Pariser Platz yesterday, during the blue hour, as a favor for a friend who needed a half-way decent shot of this particular location for a project he was working on.  It took a bit of work to post-process this one, what with all the tourists in the square, but it was worth it.  I think it turned out pretty well.

Blackbird flight is cleared for launch…

Like many of you out there, I grew up watching all the great Sci-Fi movies and TV shows.  When I was a kid, we would also watch the old Battlestar Galactica show, which we all thought was great at the time.  I still remember bulding some of the space ships with legos and launching little lego space craft from the motherships.  This cool space in Berlin reminded me of one of the launch tubes in Battlestar Galactica, so I photographed and post-processed it accordingly.

The Guardians at the Gate

Berlin is a great city, with lots to see and photograph.  With only a few months remaining to explore, I am trying to get to the places I’ve had on my “must-see” and “must-photograph” list.  This, Schloss Charlottenburg, is one of those places.  So, after a great tour of the castle, a fantastic dinner in the castle restaurant, and a wonderful baroque concert performed by musicians in period dress, I grabbed this shot outside the gates as a memory of that perfect evening.

Did I mention how much fun I’ve been having just running and gunning with my fabulous little Leica D-Lux 5?  Man, what freedom to create one has when not weighed down by a ton of gear.  Sure, I still love my big guns, but this with my Leica I feel like the light cavalry charging down the hill to smite mine enemy!!  Here’s a little architectural goodness I shot yesterday morning while in the center of Berlin with my family and close friends.
