Hunger

One thing I find I do not do enough is “street photography”.  That is, I don’t spend enough time carrying a camera around with me to document life going on around me wherever I happen to be at the moment.  I’ve decided, in the last week or so, to do just that.  More time exploring, and more time documenting some of what I see.  I’ve also decided to do that with one camera and one lens only, for the time being, in hopes that I will not allow myself to be distracted by my gear.  I also don’t shoot for black and white much, so I’ve been spending a few days trying to do more of that as well.  ll of that said, let’s see how things go.  Here is one I shot this morning while exploring some of the smaller “Sois” (small avenues/side streets) of downtown Bangkok.

Night Vision

You ever doze off in your hotel, TV still trying hard to wake you, the light of the lamps beside your bed pressing in on your closed eye lids? There’s that inevitable shock to the system as you wake, far too early, as that TV (and the lamp light) break through, your hands in front of your face, protecting against the advance, as the light slashing through your outstretched fingers bleeds through. You reach up to the switch with one had, jamming your fingers as you find the switch… fingering, pressing, twisting, twisting, off! The other hand reaches for the remote, no longer where you left it, now on the floor, fingers marching along the carpet… Found it! Pressing buttons furiously. Must… kill.. TV… Got it! Sleep…
