Here’s a shot from Horseshoe Bend, a mere few miles outside of Page, Arizona. Â We ended up spending a second night in Page to make sure we had a chance to see Horseshoe Bend, hike through Antelope Canyon, and swim in Lake Powell. Â If you are into the outdoors, you have got to visit Page.

It occurred to me that I had not posted anything from our stop in the Grand Canyon yet. Â What can I say about the Canyon? Â Spectacular! Â While we had initially planned to hit the North Rim, we instead visited the more “touristy” South Rim. Â Guess I’ll have to get back there soon to see what things are like on the North Rim.
As part of our road trip from California to the East Coast, it would have been a shame to bypass Las Vegas, particularly since we had never been there before. Â While we would have loved to seen the city at night, we had other plans for the rest of the day. Â Believe it or not, I snapped only one photo there, and that was the one you see here, which I grabbed looking over my shoulder as we were leaving leaving Las Vegas. Â Still, if I was going to get just one shot, I suppose this one says it all.
Long day today (that would be on 7 August, the day before I post this), but awesome for sure. Â Spent the night in a great old motel on Route 66 Seligman, Arizona, following a great dinner at the Roadkill Cafe. Â Breakfast there in the morning, before we headed down Route 66 to Williams. Â From there, it was off to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon (spectacular!!), where we spent the day. Â Then back on the road to Page, Arizona, for a night of rest, before we continue on into the National Parks in Utah. Â May try to get to Horseshoe Bend, very near Page, if it all works out, but we’re playing that one by ear. Â Here’s a shot I grabbed before dining on ?????? at the Roadkill!
Man, oh man!  The last few days have been jam packed with activity.  First day of the road trip had included San Francisco and Berkeley; next day was Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake; third day was all  Death Valley, all day, and it was glorious!  Today, the fourth day, had us heading out of Pahrump, Nevada to Las Vegas, then to Hoover Dam and then into Arizona.  As I write this, I am back on Route 66 in Seligman, Arizona, home of the famous Angel Delgadillo, whom I met on my epic three week Route 66 explore back in late 2011.  This time, I’ll get to introduce him to my wife and kids, which I had promised him I would do back then.  He’s about one of the nicest old gentleman you could ever meet on Route 66.  Anyway, here is the shot for today, not of anything on Route 66, but rather a piece I created using a photo I shot the other day on Death Valley.  At the time I shot it, I was specifically looking for terrain that would lend itself to an other worldly creation, which is a fairly easy thing to do in Death Valley.  My kids asked several times whether this movie or that were filmed there, and we would not have been surprised if some cool sci-fi films were actually shot there (or at least somewhere that looks quite similar).  That said, doubt they shot much in Death Valley because the weather  is… well… dang HOT!!!
