Time’s up

I’m enjoying the heck out of shooting lots of non Urban Exploration (URBEX) stuff at the moment, but I have to be honest: I miss URBEXing! Â That’s about to change, I think, as I learned from a fella I met here in Redding that there are plenty of URBEXy things to explore here in the Redding area, what with abandoned mines, old mills, junk yards and old Ghost towns. Â So, in anticipation of a little California URBEXing, I’ve decided to post a shot from one of my last URBEX adventures in former East Germany. Â I photographed this neat hall in the an old Kraftwerk (powerplant) in Vockerode.

Welcome to Oz

Any of you folks ever seen the TV show Oz?Â I had seen an episode years ago, but that was it.Â Looking for some good TV, I started watching recently.Â Almost done with the final season.Â One word: INTENSE.Â Ok, maybe one more word: BRUTAL.Â Definitely not for the faint of heart, I assure you, but for those who can handle it, this show seems to have been way ahead of its time in tackling many of the social issues that continue to challenge us.Â Anyway, when I came across this green room (these are the actual colors, by the way), I immediately thought of that control station overlooking Em’ City.Â Needless to say, I stole these brackets quickly and took off before getting shanked!

A breath of fresh air

For those of you paying close attention, you might have noticed that I had actually posted to this blog earlier today.Â Problem was that I was posting a lame shot, rather than something I had created with great care.Â Well, that’s just not right.Â So, I’ve deleted that post, and replaced it with the shot you see here, which is the one I had intended, since yesterday, to post for you all today.Â I can’t describe how amazing it was to stand in this room and just stare at the curtains billowing in the wind.Â It felt like that scene in the movie “America Beauty”, where the dude is filming the red plastic bag floating around in the air… absolute peace and beauty; a breath of fresh air.

In case of fire

Hey guys!Â As those who visit my blog know, I’ve not been posting to much of late.Â That said, I do try to post something tasty for y’all when I do.Â I shot this one during an all-day Urban Explore to two of my favorite sites, the abandoned Vockerode Powerplant and the old Sanatorium at Beelitz.Â We had a great crew out that day, including the very cool Chris Robins, who was visiting from New York City.Â We had a blast rockin’ the HDR brackets at those locations, and I think I may have gotten some of my missing mojo back that day to boot!
